Higher Education Academy interactive theatre workshop 23 May: places available

The University is to provide a Higher Education Academy (HEA) workshop on Tuesday 23 May 10:00 – 16:00 (lunch is included). The event is open to staff and students. Book your place here.

James Wilson, Lecturer in Mental Health, holding a Forum Theatre event at the University

The HEA agreed to fund the workshop after James Wilson, Lecturer in Mental Health was nominated as a finalist for the Times Higher Education: Most Innovative Teacher Award.

This free and highly interactive workshop will share the creation and delivery of a scenario-based technique known as Forum Theatre and its implementation into the nurse education curriculum at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

James Wilson, who will lead the workshop, says:

Forum Theatre provides a very powerful tool for learning and changing behaviours, which is practiced in a fun and engaging way that facilitates the sharing of personal reflections and experiences.

It is used to analyse and rehearse complex clinical situations in the safe space of the classroom so that nurses can be better prepared when facing them in real life.

If you are interested in finding out more about how Forum Theatre can be used in your modules/sessions/curriculum please sign up here.

For enquiries contact James Wilson.
