General Election: Southampton Test Candidates Debate

In light of the upcoming general election, the Southampton Debating Union will be hosting a hustings debate between the candidates for the Southampton Test constituency.

Students and staff can submit questions in advance by using this form, or can ask their questions directly to the candidates at the event, which will take place on Thursday 25 May at 18:00 in The Cube, Building 42 (Students’ Union), Highfield campus.

Hadeeka Taj, President of the Debating Union commented:

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in local politics and we welcome all questions from students on any issues, either nationally or locally, that they feel are important.

The candidates confirmed to be taking part in the event so far are:

  • Thomas Gravatt – Liberal Democrat candidate
  • Paul Holmes – Conservative candidate
  • Keith Morrell – Independent candidate
  • Alan Whitehead – Labour candidate
