The University of Southampton has ranked 102nd in the QS World University Rankings 2018, published today, Thursday 8 June.
The ranking reaffirms the University’s status amongst the top 1% of universities worldwide. Southampton is 18th amongst both UK and Russell Group universities.
The QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) rankings are based on a range of indicators that focus on excellence in teaching and research, the reputation of universities amongst employers and fellow academics, and the international mix of students and staff. Over 70,000 academics and 40,000 employers contributed their views to inform and shape the rankings, with over 11 million research papers and 40 million citations also reviewed and analysed.
Southampton has improved its Employer Reputation over the last year in the table, rising 56 places within the category. This follows the University’s rank amongst the world’s top 150 Best Institutions for Employability published by QS last November.
Earlier this year, the University placed five subjects amongst the top 50 in the world in the latest QS World Rankings by Subject, led by Nursing at 10th overall.
