Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Awards shortlists social media startup

A rising student startup business that leapt forward with unique mentoring and opportunities from the Future Worlds network has reached the semi-finals of the Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Awards.

Proofer, a social media management platform co-founded by student entrepreneur Sharif Alvis, has been named in London and the South’s top 10 pre-revenue startups in the national pitching competition.

Commenting on his achievement, Sharif said:

I’m ecstatic. It means a lot to be chosen among the top 30 in the country. It gives us some validation on our business plan and continues to build our confidence that we are on the right track.

We’ve had great support from the University, as always, in putting the application together. Future Worlds Director Reuben Wilcock and Head of Student Enterprise Sarah Rogers provided feedback on the application and business model canvas, and Future Worlds’ Alex Dunlop and Sophie Sellers put the entry video together [embedded below], so it feels like a real team effort to have reached this stage in the competition.

Student entrepreneurs can find startup inspiration and support through innovations, articles and campus events published weekly on the Future Worlds website.
