European colleagues: new support network and training on residency applications

In order to support European (EU/EEA/Swiss) colleagues during the period of uncertainty raised by Brexit, the University is providing two initiatives.

(L to R) Dr Diego Gomez-Nicola and Professor Bruno Linclau will co-chair the new European Staff Support Network

Firstly, the formation of a support network for European colleagues. The University is also providing training sessions run by KPMG (one of the largest professional services companies in the world), for staff who need advice on applying for a Registration Certificate, Permanent Residence and British citizenship.

European Staff Support Network

The group will be self-managed and will represent the views of all European colleagues, raise awareness of issues faced by members and provide opportunities for networking. It will discuss practical solutions to issues and be involved with, and consult on, the University’s measures to support European staff.

There will be opportunities for the group to set up town hall events to garner views and concerns going forward.

Dr Diego Gomez-Nicola and Professor Bruno Linclau have taken up the challenge to co-chair. For the network to be successful, they need more colleagues to take up supporting roles. Further information on membership will be available soon.

A launch event for the EU Support Network will take place on Wednesday, 28 June from 10:00 – 11:00 on Highfield Campus, in 07/3009 (L/T A). Register your place on Eventbrite.
