Congratulations to PhD student Stephanie Chapman who is one of 420 young international scientists selected to attend the 67th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. The prestigious meeting of minds is taking place right now (between 25 – 30 June) in Germany.

Around 30 Nobel Laureates come together at Lindau once a year to meet the next generation of leading scientists, which can include 400 – 500 undergraduates, PhD students and post-doc researchers from all over the world. The meetings foster the exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures, and disciplines.
Stephanie Chapman
Chemistry graduate Stephanie is currently completing her PhD in catalysis working within the University’s Chemistry department.
Before Stephanie left for the meeting, she said:
I am thrilled and delighted to have been selected to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting 2017. To have the encouragement and support of my supervisor, Professor Robert Raja, together with the Chemistry Department, and Southampton University as a whole, has been very humbling to say the least, and I share the honour of this achievement with them all.
I was inspired to study Chemistry at Southampton University, as it stood out for me in terms of the ready support it championed for its students, and I have found this to be very much the case throughout my undergraduate degree, and more recently as I work towards my PhD. I could not have known then, in those early days, just how rewarding my experience would be, and what wonderful opportunities lay ahead.
