In order to improve diagnosis of hidden hearing-loss, the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) is conducting studies looking at brain responses to speech stimuli.
To take part in this brain imaging study, you will need to be between 25 – 35 years old, have normal hearing and have English as your first language.

Before the start of the tests, team will assess if you have normal hearing using standard clinical tests. You will also be asked to complete a questionnaire about how much you think you have been exposed to loud noise (e.g. at music festivals) and how well you perceive speech in noisy environments (e.g. in a pub). You will then listen to speech stimuli from a newly developed speech-in-noise test while your brain activity is measured.
The session will take around 2 hours to complete. Participants who successfully complete the study will receive £10 for their time.
