University launches new WeChat platform

The International Office has launched a new WeChat platform which will allow users of the app to keep up to date with lots of useful information in Chinese about the University.

WeChat is China’s most popular social media platform with over 800 million users mostly within China, but also increasingly in other countries.

Much like our International Office Facebook,Twitter and Instagram platforms, the WeChat platform will provide users with a source of useful information relevant to prospective and also current Southampton students, such as programmes at Southampton, accommodation and scholarships, applying and preparing to study at Southampton as well as current news and events.

The platform and the University’s other popular Chinese social media platform, Weibo, is being run by the International Office with the assistance of current Chinese students at Southampton and the Chinese Students and Scholars Association.

Staff and student WeChat users are encouraged to follow and promote the platform by scanning the QR code or searching the user name ‘UoSouthampton’ within the WeChat app. If you are interested in finding out more about the platform and how it is being be used, please contact Marika Stone: [email protected]
