The successful outcome of the recent Clearing round takes us another step forward in our journey to higher quality, in line with the University strategy.
Alex Neill, Vice-President for Education, comments:
“I am delighted that, following Clearing and in a year of external challenges such as Brexit, we have made a further improvement at University level in the entry grades of our incoming students. This adds to the large improvement made last year. Thank you to all those involved in Clearing and Confirmation across the University.
“We now turn our attention to our Open Days in September and October. These events are crucial to securing firm acceptances from a greater proportion of our high quality applicants.”
Our success in Clearing this year included:
- Starting our promotional campaign earlier. When Clearing opened, over 3,000 people were pre-registered for our Clearing email alerts.
- A Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy which put our Clearing website in a highly competitive position in Google search results.
- We took over 8,000 phone calls over 20 hours, processed more than 1,400 online applications and made 838 offers of which over 50% were successfully converted.
At a University level, the outcome is broadly in line with our revised student numbers plans. There are local variations which will be considered by the Faculties.
