Post Room makes savings with new red pouches

The Post Room reports that it has made a saving of £6,000 since the introduction of special red mail pouches in January this year.

The pouches are specifically designed for 1st class items of any size and were introduced to help the sender think twice before sending something 1st class.

The bags also help the Post Room monitor which departments are sending high quantities of 1st class mail.

Dave Caws, Post and Portering Manager says:

“In an environment of cost saving and efficiency at the University, it’s pleasing to see that since we introduced the pouches, 20% more mail is now sent 2nd class, rather than 1st class.

“There are still savings to be made, however, and I would encourage staff to continue to be vigilant about whether they send their post 1st or 2nd class.”

If you have mail queries or want to know more about postal savings contact the Post Room on ext 22368.
