Mapping the future of sea life conservation

Researchers at Southampton are using jellyfish to create chemical maps that will help to protect life in our oceans.

Katie St John Glew, postgraduate research student within Ocean and Earth Science at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS), is hoping that her work will lead to the improved conservation of sea birds and the prevention of illegal fishing.

Katie won the Joint Runner Up and People’s Choice prizes in this year’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Grand Final at the University with her presentation, entitled CSI: Southampton.

This story is one of many on our Research highlights page, which demonstrate how work that goes on right here at your University is impacting and improving the world around us.
