Freshers: make sure you register with a GP

Take your health seriously! Remember that you will need to register as a patient at a local Doctors Surgery. For more information, please click here.

During Freshers’ week, the on-site University Health Service (Building 48, Highfield Campus) is offering a one-stop shop registration service. If you need to, you can see a doctor during registration or arrange your repeat prescriptions without a follow-up appointment.

Registration for new students is available from Monday 25 to Friday 29 September from 09:00 16:00. Monday and Tuesday are always the quietest days and mornings are less busy, so beat the queues and come early.

Please bring your completed registration and alcohol form (provided in your Halls Pack and also available from the Health Service Website), with details of your medical history and any medications you are using.

Also available:

  • Vaccinations are available free of charge for students under 24 years old for health conditions which are more common in young adults living together such as Meningitis, Mumps and Measles.
  • Screening for Latent TB for students at risk. Please click here to see if this screening may be relevant to you.

Further information about health services locally can be found on the Health and Safety SharePoint site.
