If you’re watching live TV or BBC iPlayer, you need to have a TV Licence.
Data released by TV Licensing has revealed that, from September 2016 – August 2017, 864 individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 across Hampshire were caught watching without a license, with 278 of those individuals living in Southampton.
Those watching live TV, or BBC programmes on iPlayer (on any device) without a licence could face prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000 if caught.
