This festive season, the University’s Engagement and Advancement Team are holding two exciting events for the University community.
2017 Christmas Lights Switch On – Tuesday 21 November
Hugely successful in previous years, the Christmas Lights Switch On has become an annual tradition, offering staff and students the chance to come together and appreciate the seasonal atmosphere.
Please note, due to the high number of expected guests, children are not permitted to attend this event so we encourage students and staff with children to attend the Family Christmas event detailed below.
Join us and enjoy festive music, visit the Christmas market, and get into the Christmas mood.
The schedule is as follows:
- 16:00: Browse the Christmas market for gifts and festive foods on the Redbrick and around the crescent area
- 16:30: Listen to Christmas carols performed by our brass band
- 18:00: Watch the Christmas Lights Switch On – the lights will be turned on from the balcony of Building 40
- 18:10: Enjoy live music until late in The Stag’s and The Bridge
To claim your complimentary drink, simply register for the event. On the night, make sure you bring your ticket (which you can either present on your phone, or via a printed copy). You will be able to exchange this from 16:00 at one of our drinks outlets (The Bridge, The Stag’s or one of the two outside bars).

Family Christmas – Monday 11 December
Staff and students with children are invited to join us for a magical afternoon at our Family Christmas event on Highfield Campus starting at 16:00 to 18:00.
Featuring face painting, children’s entertainers, an appearance from Santa and closing with a fireworks display, this event is not one to be missed.
Registered guests are able to enjoy a hot or a cold drink; we also have festive gingerbread men for the children. Please register all members of your party through our Eventbrite page, including ages of the children attending. Please bring your student of staff I.D on the day.
