An exhibition entitled ‘a good neighbour’ organised by John Hansard Gallery as part of the Istanbul Biennial will be on show in the Hartley Library, Level 4 Gallery from 20 November 2017 – 4 February 2018.
‘A good neighbour’ is the theme of this year’s Istanbul Biennial, exploring notions of home, neighbourhoods and how private spheres have changed in recent years. Institutions worldwide have been invited to host artist billboards in public spaces featuring this theme.
These graphic billboards are a joint collaboration between photographer Lukas Wassmann and graphic designer Rupert Smyth, where the image and text open up conversations about what it means to be a good neighbour.
‘a good neighbour’ is presented as part of John Hansard Gallery’s ongoing off-site programme, as they prepare for relocation to Studio 144 in Southampton city centre in 2018.
