Researcher’s Cafe: making Southampton a better city

The next Researchers’ Café, on making Southampton a better city, will take place on Thursday 30 November, 18:30-20:00 at BySea Coffee Lounge, 468-480 Portswood Rd, SO17 3SP.

Researcher's Cafe

The Researchers’ Café enables students, staff and the public to meet University researchers and discuss their research in an informal space.

Attendees can expect informal discussions on how we can make Southampton a more healthy, fair, positive and sustainable city.

At this Researchers’ Café, several recent events will be discussed:

  • The World Café (14 Nov) where participants imagined a healthier, fairer, more positive Southampton
  • The Race is On (Southampton-made film, previewed 16 Nov) which promoted tackling climate change by 2040
  • Southampton: 2117, Speculative Futures (19 Nov) where ideas for a better future for Southampton were discussed

There will also be short keynotes and then table discussions on:

  • A better, more connected city (continuing from the World Café) with Clare Diaper, Rosie Cooper and Tony Curran
  • A more sustainable city (continuing from The Race is On film and discussion) with James Dyke
  • A healthier city (including announcement of a new Community Health and Wellbeing Hub), speaker(s) to be confirmed

BySea will be offering a ‘coffee & tray bake for £2.50’ deal at the event.
