The 2017 Christmas Complete project at the University has been extremely successful, generating enthusiasm and hundreds of donations from across the organisation.

Staff volunteers across the University managed 11 collection points at Aldermoor Health Centre, Avenue, Boldrewood, Guildhall Square, Highfield, Southampton General Hospital and Chilworth.

A group of staff from SUSU dropped off a minibus load of presents to Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship (S.C.R.A.T.C.H.) on Tuesday 12 December.

S.C.R.A.T.C.H., the charity that runs the Christmas Complete project, very much appreciates the University’s support for the project, and pass on their thanks.

Last year S.C.R.A.T.C.H were able to provide seven or eight toys and gifts to 2,019 children and young people who otherwise might have gone without presents to open on Christmas Day, and the number is increasing every year.

Annette Davis, Senior Manager from S.C.R.A.T.C.H says:

“None of this would be possible without the huge number of donations from individuals, businesses, churches and schools. So please accept our thanks if you donated or organised a collection on our behalf.”

For three years running, the project has been supported by a group of staff who have made it accessible and convenient for staff and students to drop off donations at the University’s campuses.

The University’s support for the project has also generated a lot of interest in S.C.R.A.T.C.H. and volunteers have been signing up to help the charity sort, pack and deliver presents across Southampton, as well as volunteer for other important community projects they run.
