New agreement with Santander Universities

The University has signed a new three-year agreement with the Santander Universities Division of Santander Bank.

The agreement was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Christopher Snowden and Matt Hutnell, Director of Santander Universities, and followed by a networking reception for Santander scholarship recipients and colleagues from across the University.

Both Sir Christopher and Matt Hutnell shared their appreciation of the 10-year relationship which has impacted students and staff across the University though scholarships, internships and research seed funding.

Three current students, Stephanie Rabasa (MSc Digital Marketing), Saskia McKeown (BSc Geography) and Alonso Marquez Arzate (MSc Race Car Aerodynamics), along with Professor David Wilson, Associate Dean (International), Faculty of Medicine, also thanked Santander for the scholarship and internship opportunities that they have been awarded.

In 2018, the total donation received from Santander Universities will reach over £1million.

Santander Universities Division supports and manages Santander’s commitment to higher education.  This is a long-term, strategic alliance with universities that benefits students and university staff. In the UK, Southampton was one of the first partners in 2007. Today, Santander has agreements with over 80 UK universities.
