A team of our alumni will feature on this year’s BBC2 Christmas University Challenge.
The four graduates will debut at 19:30 on Wednesday 27 December, going head to head with an alumni team from York University.
Our current University Challenge team, who will next appear on Monday 8 January 2018 against Newcastle University
Representing Southampton will be Daniel Sandford, the BBC’s Home Affairs Correspondent (1998, BSc Physics/Electronics); Clare Foges, former Special Advisor to Number 10 Downing Street and Times columnist (2002, BA English); Simon Evans, comedian, writer and presenter (1986, BA Law); and John Wilson, presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Front Row (1988, BA English and Media).
Among the York alumni are Kevin Maguire, associate editor of the Daily Mirror, and BBC Radio 3 presenter Tom Service.
Should they progress, our team would return to our screens in early January for the series semi-finals.
Meanwhile the long-awaited return of our current team to this year’s University Challenge competition will be on Monday 8 January 2018 where they’ll compete with Newcastle University in the second round. Southampton memorably defeated Cardiff 240-80 in their first round match.
