Students are given a number of opportunities to help shape their student experience throughout their studies. If you’re eligible to take part in any of the three surveys outlined below, you will receive an email from Monday 5 February with further details on how to take part.
We have included a breakdown to give you a brief outline of the different surveys that will give you the opportunity to comment on every aspect of your student experience.
National Student Survey (NSS)
Why take part?
The NSS is a unique opportunity for final year students to give their opinion on their experience at the University. They will have spent at least the last three years at Southampton, so they have an informed opinion, which we value.
The results of the NSS are factored into the University’s planning process and their participation in the NSS can be a legacy that helps us directly improve the experience of Southampton students.
Who can complete it?
All eligible final year students will receive their own individual link by email or they can fill it out by clicking here.
When can I take part?
The survey will run from Thursday 8 February.
Southampton Student Survey 2018 (SSS)
Why take part?
The survey aims to explore the factors affecting the student experience and understand how the University can make changes for the better.
The survey includes questions on different areas such as teaching, assessment and feedback, academic support, learning community, learning opportunities and much more.
Who can complete it?
All undergraduates, not eligible for the NSS, will be emailed a direct link to take part in the survey or they can fill it out by clicking here.
When can I take part?
The survey will be open on Thursday 8 February.
Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES)
Why take part?
This survey is run by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) for all UK universities. The aim of the survey is to understand more about postgraduate taught students’ experience, what works well and what could be better.
Who can complete it?
Postgraduate taught students will be emailed a direct link to the online survey.
When can I take part?
The survey will be open on Wednesday 14 February.
