The University is pleased to announce that Dr Lorna Colquhoun will join the University as the new Director of Research and Innovation Services (RIS) on 16 April 2018.
Lorna is an alumna of the University, having received her PhD in Neuroscience here.
She is currently the Director of Enterprise at the University of Bristol, having previously been Director of Research Funding Development and Acting Director of Research and Enterprise Development for the same University. Previously she has held positions at Imperial College and the Medical Research Council.
Professor Mark Spearing, who will continue as the interim Director of RIS until Lorna starts, said her appointment was excellent news:
“Through the appointment process Lorna impressed us with her excellent knowledge across the full spectrum of activities undertaken by RIS. She has also shown herself to be a very committed leader with a focus on developing the individuals and teams she has been responsible for in her previous roles. She joins the University at a very exciting time with fantastic opportunities to increase our research and enterprise performance, building on an already very strong base.”
Lorna said she was delighted to be joining the University:
“It’s a really exciting time for the University, as well as more widely for national and international research and innovation, and I feel privileged to be able to contribute to the research endeavour at such a well-respected institution.”
