The NSS is for final year undergraduates across the UK and is a unique opportunity for them to share their views on their student experience.
Professor Alex Neill, Vice-President Education, explains more about the upcoming survey:
“The National Student Survey is a unique opportunity for you to give your opinion on your experience at the University. As a final year student you have spent at least the last three years at Southampton, so you have an informed opinion, which we value. Please use the survey to express your true opinion of your educational experience at Southampton.”
For NSS 2018, Southampton students will be invited to fill in the survey from Thursday 8 February 2018 to avoid clashing with exams. All eligible students will be sent an email invitation containing a personalised link to take part in the survey.
We want everyone’s views to be accurately reflected, so it is very important that all finalists complete the survey.
The results of the NSS are factored into the University’s planning process and their participation in the NSS can be a legacy that helps us directly improve the experience of Southampton students. The survey itself is conducted independently by Ipsos MORI on behalf of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and the National Health Service, and is fully supported by our Students’ Union.
For students who do not fill in the survey, they will be reminded with further emails and follow up phone calls from Ipsos MORI. The phone calls will start three weeks after the survey begins. Students will be sent further reminders throughout the survey so we recommend completing it as early as possible.
The survey will close on Monday 30 April 2018.
