Last chance to nominate yourself in the spring elections

Graduating this year? Kick-start your career by nominating yourself to become a Full-Time or Part-Time Officer in the Students’ Union’s Spring Elections. These are paid positions, with a competitive starting salary of £20,989 (full time).

If you’re keen to represent one of the biggest Students’ Unions in the country and improve a specific area of student life, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Thorough professional training will be supplied, so don’t worry if you don’t have much experience!

There are seven full-time positions available:

  • Union President: Become the Union’s figurehead and take charge by managing finances, monitoring budgets, chairing the Trustee Board and more.
  • VP Democracy & Creative Industries: Get involved with politics and representation and develop your skills in media, while encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities.
  • VP Education: Represent students’ academic interests by overseeing the Academic Representation structure and become the first point of contact between the Students’ Union and University for all educational and academic matters.
  • VP Engagement: Take the lead on fundraising campaigns while supporting the Halls Committees, you will aim to create positive change in the local community and beyond.
  • VP Sports: Lead the Athletic Union, organise Varsity and develop the Union’s intramural offering to ensure that students have plenty of opportunities to keep active during their studies.
  • VP Student Communities: Develop campaigns to raise awareness of multiculturalism and celebrate diversity across campuses, while ensuring that different groups of students feel integrated into student life.
  • VP Welfare: Take charge on mental and physical wellbeing and sustainability campaigns to ensure that students are supported and aware of their impact in the world.

Part-Time Officer roles (Student Leaders and Student Trustees), involve being responsible for representing a certain area of student life. Roles can include WSA Committee Officers, International Students’ Officer, Athletic Union Officer and more.
