It’s snowing in Southampton and staff are reminded to check our adverse weather policies in the event that serious adverse weather affects our normal operations, or if staff are unable to attend work. You can also find further related information here.
Visit our earlier SUSSED post for essential information for students and staff.
In summary‚ the normal expectation is that the University campuses will remain open. If the weather is so severe that it is unsafe to continue activities‚ the Crisis Management Committee will make decisions to close on a campus-by-campus basis.
If this were to happen then information will be communicated to staff as quickly as possible through various channels – text messages, emails to all staff‚ notices on the University website‚ automated messages on the University switchboard on Tel: +44 (0)23 8059 5000 as well as University social media feeds.
We recommend that staff ensure that their contact details, particularly mobile phone numbers, are up-to-date in MyView so that we can communicate details as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
Students will be kept up to date via the Student Communications Facebook Page, Whatsapp messaging service (specifically via the ‘News’ distribution list. Students can text us within the app on: Tel: +44 (0)77 3300 0781 and tell us which lists you’d like to join out of ‘News’ ‘Events’ and ‘Opportunities), as well as on Snapchat (UniSouthampton).
