02.03.2018 Adverse weather: updated University closure details

As a result of the severe weather and the major disruption to transport and other services, the University cannot guarantee the safety and wellbeing of its students, staff and visitors.

We have therefore made the decision to close the following parts of the University today (Friday 2 March) and over the weekend:

Libraries

You can view opening information for all our University Library sites here.

  • Winchester School of Art Library closed
  • Health Services (SGH) Library closed
  • NOCS Library closed
  • Hartley Library – although open last night, it was closed from 08:00 this morning.

Campuses

  • Highfield
  • Boldrewood
  • Avenue
  • Winchester School of Art (WSA) – there will be no shuttle bus between Highfield and WSA
  • Southampton General Hospital (SGH) – the University’s operations and activities are closed.
  • National Oceanography Centre (NOC) – the University’s operations and activities are closed.

Sport and Wellbeing

All Sport and Wellbeing venues are closed, reopening as usual on Monday 5 March unless informed otherwise.

Re-opening

All campuses and facilities will re-open as usual on Monday 5 March unless informed otherwise.

Student assessments

Faculties will contact students to provide guidance about arrangements for scheduled assessments.
