Southampton Science & Engineering Festival starts Friday 9 March

Southampton Science & Engineering Festival (SOTSEF) starts this week (Friday 9 March) and despite the sad news that Science & Engineering Day has been cancelled (full statement here) there is still a week-long programme of events that you can get involved in.

The festival kicks off on Friday with two events.  You can join the John Hansard Gallery for their ‘Science Art Health & Wellbeing (SAHW) into Science Technology Engineering Art and Maths (STEAM) seminar’ which explores the value of arts and culture in health and wellbeing. In the evening, stand-up comedy specialists Bright Club are putting on an International Women’s Day event with an all-female line up.

The festival sees Turner Sims offer a scientific journey through a single piano note; Mettricks Old Town becomes a hub for discussion about designing Southampton for future generations and Southampton Solent University puts on a free screening of the award winning film ‘A Plastic Ocean’.

There is also the grand final of ‘University Challenged’; a chance to learn more about Southampton as the ‘city that lost its sea’; a Researchers’ Café and a pop-up science centre in West Quay shopping centre.

More information and ticket booking available here.
