Malaysian students view the FA Cup Trophy at Southampton Football Club

Students from our University of Southampton Malaysia Campus (USMC) were amongst the first to view the replica FA Cup proudly displayed in the trophy cabinet of St Mary’s stadium on a recent tour of the venue.

The 23 USMC students who joined the tour are currently in their third and fourth years, studying either MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering, MEng Mechanical Engineering or MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics. USMC students spend two years of study in Malaysia and their final two years of study in the UK.

On the tour, the students were able to experience walking out of the player’s tunnel pitch side, following in the footsteps of Matt Le Tissier, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott. They were also shown the differences between the home and visitors dressing rooms, visited the board room where the important decisions are made and made themselves at home in the executive boxes.

Third year Aeronautics and Astronautics student Sean Morais said:

“I’ve not been to a Premiership Football club before – I really enjoyed the tour!”

Sri Ram Vengada, also a third year Aeronautics and Astronautics student, commented:

“I really enjoyed the tour of a Premiership Football team. I especially enjoyed sitting in the News Suite where all the important pre and post-match interviews take place.”
