Timothy Leighton, Professor of Ultrasonics and Underwater Acoustics, will present ‘Using the sound of bubbles against two apocalypses’.

The lecture examines how bubbles make sound, and how this influences the ways that we can monitor the ocean and leaks of greenhouse gases from the seabed into the atmosphere.

Timothy will also discuss how the sound of bubbles plays a role in the so-called antibiotic apocalypse, which is thought will cause more deaths than cancer by 2050.

The lecture takes place at 18:45 on Tuesday 24 April 2018, in Lecture Theatre B, Building 46 (Physics) on the Highfield Campus. Doors open at 18:00, and a drinks reception will follow the lecture.

The lecture is free to attend and everyone is welcome. Please register online to attend.
