The fourth and final entry in our miniseries focuses on….you guessed it: proof reading.
Why, despite our best efforts, do we fail to spot all the mistakes in our writing?
The problem is that we tend to skim and scan when reading, missing some of the the less obvious errorrs in the process. Look carefully at the previous sentence!
Proofreading can help to eliminate surface errors in our writing, such as typos, whilst editing enables us to identify larger issues, such as structure, argument and flow.
