There’s still time to secure your Year in Employment placement

Are you considering a Year in Employment (YiE) between your penultimate and final year of study?

Although the deadline of the 31 May is near, you still have a chance to find a placement with your faculty’s permission up until the 31 July.

BA (Hons) Fashion and Textile Design student Ashleigh Cameron undertook her Year in Employment placement at Urban Outfitters in 2016/17.

Sophie Hart, a BA (Hons) English student currently undertaking her placement with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, said:

“The year in employment process has been a fun and independent journey, there are lots of things about full-time work that as students we don’t feel prepared for (my hour and a half commute being one!) but it is hugely rewarding and now I feel like I have the drive and discipline to make the most of my final year!”

There are lots of resources available to help you decide if a year in employment is right for you. All information about the YiE Programme can be found in the Student Handbook, including course eligibility and details about financial support and the application process.

You can visit the Year in Employment webpage to access this information, and even register your interest to receive weekly updates about new roles being offered.

For further information you can email the Work Experience Team on [email protected].
