With exam season upon us, it’s important that you take time to look after yourself whilst studying. The University and Students’ Union are running a range of events and providing services to help support you.
Enabling Services:
- Mindful Fridays – a weekly session from 13:00 – 13:45 each Friday for you to practise mindfulness. This is an open group and everyone is welcome to come along. There’s no need to book ahead.
- Drop-in sessions – if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed or anxious, talking about it can help. Enabling Services offers a daily drop-in every weekday between 13:00 – 15:00 in Building 37 on Highfield.
- If you want to speak to someone but can’t get to campus, you can speak to an adviser via Live Chat every weekday from 14:00 – 16:00.
- Managing Exam Anxiety: From Stress to Success – an online workshop that can be completed from anywhere and gives you lots of useful tips for managing exam stress.
- Take a look at the service’s mental health and wellbeing page for more information.

University Library sites:
- Take a break from studying to do some mindful colouring. Based opposite the reception desk at the Library, this activity is available at any time of day and will continue until Friday 8 June – you might even get your completed work displayed by the Reception desk.
Doodle corners are also available at the Health Services Library (Southampton General Hospital), the National Oceanographic Centre Library, and at the Library and Learning Commons (Avenue Campus). - From 09:00 – 17:00, you can find Hartley staff members on every floor wearing purple ‘happy to help’ t-shirts. They’re there to help you with any queries you have, from finding books to where you can fill your water bottle.
- You may have noticed that the Student Life team is in the Library. They’re there for you to chat to about your exams and any concerns you have, from Tuesday 1 May – Friday 8 June between 18:00 – 06:00. A private space is also available if you need.
- The Student Life team will be providing refreshments and stress relieving activities in the Hartley Library Foyer to encourage you to take regular breaks from studying and to prioritise your wellbeing.
Halls of Residence:
- The Student Life team is running drop-in sessions during the evenings to help students who may need support.
