From today (30 May 2018), all staff and Postgraduate Researchers with a University-managed Windows desktop or laptop can request an upgrade to Windows 10.
The process is managed through a self-service mechanism similar to that experienced on home computers.
Windows 10 is an easy-to-use blend of the best of Windows 7 and 8 while also introducing useful new features.
Further information on the advantages, differences and how to start your upgrade to Windows 10 is available here: Windows 10 upgrade.
The move to Windows 10 will be accompanied by a move to Office 2016.
Dr Oz Parchment, Director of iSolutions said:
“We are committed to providing an excellent user experience for our staff and students, through the self-service delivery of the latest Windows 10 releases we take another step on that journey.”
Common Learning Space (CLS) workstations are unaffected as they were upgraded to Windows 10 in 2016.
This upgrade promises a better IT experience with faster start up times and allows iSolutions to upgrade existing software and install new pieces of software more easily.
