As part of our preparations for the University’s move to a five-faculty structure on 1 August, we have been considering the changes that are necessary to our external-facing websites.
A small team of web editors have started making light touch changes to our most important, high-traffic web pages. These are changes to faculty/academic unit/school/department names, key staff and the creation of new faculty landing pages. You can find a list of the sites that are in scope here. All pages that fall under these sites are being checked and will be updated accordingly.
All other websites are out of scope of the team’s work and they will not be making any changes to these sites.
We have already emailed Heads of Faculty Operations and SitePublisher Editors with further details.
If you manage a site that is in scope of these changes:
We ask that you do not make any changes to your website before 1 August, to avoid duplication of effort or impact on your site’s search engine optimisation. There is no need to make any changes to your site to reflect the University’s new structure.
If any urgent factual changes are required to these sites before 1 August, please raise a ticket via ServiceNow.
If you manage a site that is out of scope of these changes:
You can continue to make day-to-day changes to your sites. We recommend that you wait until after 1 August to make amendments to reflect the University’s new structure. In August, we will distribute advice about how to consistently refer to our new faculties, schools, departments and key staff.
If you have any questions about these changes, we encourage you to email [email protected].
