Over the last four months we have been updating you on the process to appoint and align staff to our new five-faculty structure.
We are pleased to confirm that our new Associate Directors of Faculty Operations (ADoFOs) have now been appointed.
These posts have previously been referred to as Faculty Managers but the title has been changed for consistency with colleagues in other professional services and faculties.
Associate Directors of Faculty Operations will be members of the Faculty Board and will be responsible for providing strategic and high level operational support to the Dean to ensure the delivery of the faculty and University strategy. They will be line managed by John Kness, the new Director of Faculty Operations.
The new Associate Directors are:
- Faculty of Arts and Humanities – Andy Malicki
- Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences – Jennie Calder-Smith
- Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences – Mandy Pervin
- Faculty of Medicine – Adrian Reyes-Hughes
- Faculty of Social Sciences – Thom Bull

John Kness, Director of Faculty Operations, said:
“The new Associate Directors will play an integral role in their faculties, working with their Deans to develop and implement faculty strategic plans. They will provide a critical link between the faculties and other professional services. I am delighted to work with the team to develop a consistent and strategic approach to faculty-level operational support.”
The new appointments have been made from the existing Head of Faculty Operations (HoFO) group. Other members of the group will take up the following posts:
- John Kness will take up the new role of Director of Faculty Operations
- Zoe Heathcote will take up the role of Associate Director of Student and Academic Administration (Student Systems and Operations)
- Alex Bonczoszek will take up the role of Associate Director of International Student Recruitment in the Student Recruitment and International Relations team
All eight will take up their new posts on 1 August.
