Hats off to over 5,700 graduates who received their undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral awards last month.
The class of 2018 was our largest graduating class in the University’s 156 year history!
Thank you to the hundreds of members of staff who support, organise and run graduation every year.
How many grads can you fit in a selfie? Professor Simon Kemp finds out!
Vice Chancellor Professor Sir Christopher Snowden said:
“Graduation is the highlight of the academic year, not just for our graduates but for the whole University.
“It is a time for us all to celebrate and reflect on the experiences and achievements of this year’s graduating class, with family, friends and fellow graduates.”
Graduates and their families from around the world met on Highfield Campus to celebrate this momentous occasion.
The Student Communications Team were busy capturing photos and videos live throughout graduation. Take a look at a selection of highlights below:
Father and son, Owen and Ollie, both studied Engineering here at the University of Southampton but 40 years apart! Find out their story in the short video above.
Many hats were tipped…
and flowers given out.
We even met the world’s youngest PhDer!
The Alumni Team captured our graduates stories through video! Click the image above to watch.
Graduates and their families showed their countries’ colours by wearing traditional dress.
We spotted a family with not just one PhD parent, but two!
It wouldn’t have been graduation without a number of hats flying through the Highfield grounds.
We wish the class of 2018 the very best of luck in the future!
