The University of Southampton Residences Team is looking for student assistants to help in the preparation and delivery of the main moving in weekend from 22 to 23 September 2018. There are also paid opportunities to work with the team during the October Open Day on 13 October 2018. Apply online for these opportunities.
We welcome over 6,000 students to halls every year, many of whom are first year undergraduates. We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming student helpers to help our new students and guests move in and get settled.
The below positions will be paid £7.38 an hour and training will be provided.
The first role involves contributing to the preparations and running of September outtakes, intakes and the October open day (13 October 2018). You will be required to work for 20 hours a week with shifts mainly taking place on weekday evenings and weekends. Nine positions are available for this role to work from early September to mid-October. The role will also involve assisting with queries at reception and help with fire drills.
The second role is working during moving in weekend, greeting new students and helping them move into their rooms. Each year our Welcome Assistants make a great impression to both new students and their parents by offering a warm welcome to the University. They provide invaluable help with directions, unpacking and moving belongings, along with imparting knowledge about the University and halls. Over 100 positions are available for this role, working on the weekend from 22 to 23 September 2018.
