It’s A level results day

Today (Thursday 16 August) is results day for A levels (as well as many other qualifications) and our admissions colleagues and tutors, supported by other staff and students, will be making offers to talented and well-qualified students.

Commenting on the Clearing period, Professor Alex Neill, Vice-President (Education) said:

“We really are a very long way away from the point when Clearing was predominantly a process to help applicants who had not succeeded in their initial applications to find a place. Our data from recent years shows that the students we’ve admitted through Clearing have been of high quality. Universities are now seeing an increasing percentage of students using Clearing to make their first application to university; it has now become part of the mainstream recruitment cycle.”

“It is therefore crucial that we focus our best efforts into this concentrated period, to provide the support and information necessary for well qualified prospective students to make Southampton their first choice.”

What happens if prospective students call you?

Please direct them to the University Clearing and Adjustment website where our entry requirements are now live.

Alternatively, students can call our Clearing and Adjustment hotline on 0330 058 6940 which opened at 08:00 this morning. Applicants can also submit their application online.

Anyone we make an offer to will be invited to our Clearing and Adjustment Open Day on Saturday 18 August from 10:00 – 14:00. Prospective students can look around our campus, talk to academics and current students and discuss the accommodation we have available. This is an invitation only event and more information is available here.

For queries about accommodation

Please direct prospective students to the Student Services accommodation webpages or our Accommodation hotline on 02380 595959.
