Are you interested in making a positive start to the new academic year? The Leadership and Management Development team are offering a number of opportunities to line managers in August and September.
They’re running three practical workshops – Maximising Contribution, Enabling Change and Managing Underperformance. These workshops, which form part of the Leadership and Management Framework, have been designed to support managers and enhance their skills when working with change and developing their team members.

Maximising Contribution
- Strengthen your ability to hold regular and effective discussions about staff performance and enable team members to maximise their contribution
- Learn new techniques to support you when setting clear expectations, providing quality feedback and discussing staff performance
- Learn what skills are required to hold effective appraisal discussions and regular one-to-one meetings

- Strengthen your ability to identify and resolve potential conflict and develop strategies for overcoming resistance to change

Managing Underperformance
- Identify your role and responsibilities to manage the performance of your team members
- Recognise barriers to managing performance and how you might address and overcome them
- Apply some tools and techniques to drive more productive outcomes when faced with performance issues
- Be confident when using the processes and resources available within the University to manage underperformance
- Create a plan to avoid any underperformance and manage it should it arise
