We are flying the rainbow flag this week in support of Southampton Pride, which takes place in the city this Saturday 25 August.
The flags are being flown at Highfield Campus (outside of the Hartley Library) as well as at the National Oceanographic Centre Southampton (NOCS).
Tune into our Snapchat account (username: unisouthampton) on the day and view behind the scenes photos and videos with our SUSU LGBT+ Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Plus Society.
Festivities begin on West Marlands Road (outside the Stage Door) from 11:00 on Saturday, with live music from midday and continuing through to the official post-parade party at the Edge & Box Bar.
The Community Parade will leave the Stage Door at 14:00, heading around Guildhall Square and down Above Bar Street to the Bargate monument.
Come and join the University of Southampton (UoS) Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network for the parade. Please register on Eventbrite so they can get an idea of numbers attending on the day.
A number of UoS Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network t-shirts are available to wear, so register to avoid disappointment.
UoS Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network welcomes all friends and colleagues, to join the parade under the University banner.
James Allen, Chair of the Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network, said:
“Southampton Pride is the place where you can be yourself. At the University of Southampton, we value equality, diversity and being inclusive. Pride serves as a reminder that we should be respectful of ourselves and others, whatever our identities or beliefs, and by celebrating what makes us unique, it helps in bringing us together.”
