We’d like to make staff and students aware that from September 2018 to February 2019 a programme of required maintenance and improvement work will take place on the network of pipes that provide heat to University buildings.
Colleagues in Estates have planned this work to minimise disruption to staff, students and visitors to our campuses during key times such as Freshers’ Week and Open Day.
Phase One – from 3 September
The first phase will take place on the South East side of campus between buildings 29, 30 and 35, shown by the dotted outline on the map below. This will be completed by 29 September.
Phase Two – from 16 October
After the October open day work will recommence outside Building 42 (The Students’ Union building) and work back towards University Road reducing it to one lane, and carrying on between buildings 37 and 34.
Please see the map for more details about the work. Click the map for a larger image.
Additional improvements to campus
Footpaths near Building 29 are going to be widened and storage for more bikes will also be provided in this area.
During this work pedestrian access to all buildings and vehicle access will still be possible, with the exception of large lorries. The road between Building 35 and Building 29 will be reduced in width (3 to 28 September).
Further updates on the work taking place after 16 October will be provided on this webpage.
