David Owen Norris playing the Duke’s piano
Wellington’s name attached itself to many pieces of music, including Beethoven’s orchestral piece ‘Wellington’s Victory’ and ‘Lord Wellington’s March’ composed by Princess Charlotte of Wales, the manuscript of which is preserved here in Southampton.
Professor David Owen Norris is a pianist, composer and broadcaster. As well as Professor of Musical Performance, he is a Visiting Professor at the Royal College of Music and at the Royal Northern College of Music. He is also the only composer to have set speeches by the Duke, in his political oratorio Turning Points.
