Successful introduction of new Samsung printers

Over the last eight weeks, more than 600 printers and Multi-Functional Devices – printers, copiers and scanners (MFDs) have been successfully installed across the University.

The installation of the new Samsung machines began on 1 July, 2018. The new machines provide an improved customer experience with an easy to use interface and a new reporting system.

New Samsung printers installed across University

The new Samsung machines provide:

  • printing from any fixed desktop PC or laptop
  • confidentiality and security by logging in (MFDs only)
  • the ability to collect your printing from anywhere at a time that suits you (within 24 hours)
  • colour printing, copying and scanning, available where required
  • ability to print from mobile devices in the future

Director of iSolutions, Dr Oz Parchment said:

“The installation of the new fleet of printers brings real cost savings to the University in addition to improved efficiency and reliability for all our staff and students.”

There are still a handful of machines to be installed in areas where the team were unable to gain access or where there were building works taking place. However installation of these should be completed in the next few weeks.

If you are still using an old Konica Minolta printer or MFD, or have any used/unused Konica Minolta toners please raise a ticket via ServiceLine clearly stating what needs collecting (e.g. subject line of “Unused KM toner collection”). Please contact ServiceLine if you are experiencing an issue using the new devices.

The University’s new print service is managed by Apogee, Europe’s largest independent provider of managed print services. Apogee provide fully managed document and print technology to many UK Universities and HE colleges as well as public and private sector clients.
