Applications open for ‘3 Day Startup’ – from zero to startup in 72 hours!

Our students, as part of the SETsquared group of universities (Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey), are invited to apply for a 3 Day Startup (3DS) event taking place at the University of Surrey from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 October.

This event is a 72-hour learning-by-doing campus workshop, as part of an international non-profit programme based in Austin Texas, teaching entrepreneurial skills in a hands-on environment.

You can apply for this October’s event here. The deadline for applications is Friday 5 October.

Participants will form teams, generate and develop ideas, conduct market research, talk to customers, create prototypes and pitch to an expert panel.

Food and accommodation is provided for the three days as well as a travel allowance to Surrey.

Both postgraduate and undergraduate students from all disciplines are welcome to apply. You don’t need a business idea to be eligible, as you’ll take part in idea generation sessions during 3DS.

You can read about former Southampton entrepreneurs’ experiences at a past 3DS event here.

Tom Phipps, 3DS Southampton 2017 participant said:

“The 3DS weekend was an enjoyable and informative three days which provided a comprehensive overview of what it is like to take a start-up idea, from its inception, and build on it, taking it through the various stages of development; whether it be market validation, creating a business plan, or even creating an effective pitch deck for presenting to investors.”

Ten of the most ambitious students from each of the five SETsquared Universities will be selected for this autumn’s event, which will include training, mentoring and guidance from some amazing coaches and entrepreneurs from around the world.
