Continuing our countdown to the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards 2018 on Friday 5 October at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.
The Awards cover 12 separate categories, highlighting and celebrating the outstanding achievements of our staff.
Today we look at the award categories; Public Engagement and Outreach, Research Impact and International Engagement.
Award category: Public Engagement and Outreach.
An employee or team who have made exceptional connections with one or more public audiences. This may include engaged research, partnerships between the University and a public group, work with schools and colleges, or outstanding contributions to public-facing events.
Shortlisted nominees:
The Arts Strategy Group. (Arts and Humanities, Library, Development and Alumni Relations, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Arts on Campus, Students Union, Social Services, Estates and Facilities, Communications and Marketing and Human Resources).
Dr. Jon Copley. (Environmental and Life Sciences).
The Learn with US Transition Programme Team. (Student Recruitment and International Relations).
Award category: Research Impact.
An employee or a team who has delivered impactful research, generating knowledge and technologies that have real economic and social benefit for the world. This award includes, but is not limited to, those conducting research and providing other forms of research support.
Shortlisted nominees:
The Carbon and Waste Management Research Team. (Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and the Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences).
The OTTER 2 Team. (Environmental and Life Sciences).
The WorldPop Team. (Environmental and Life Sciences).
Award category: International Engagement.
An employee or a team whose efforts have made a significant contribution to our international impact. This includes, but is not restricted to, the fields of research, education, the student experience, policy or alumni relations.
Shortlisted nominees:
Professor Bashir Lwaleed. (Environmental and Life Sciences).
Chris Shank. (Development and Alumni Relations).
Zoe Yao. (Student Recruitment and International Relations).
The winners will be announced live on Twitter from 19:00 on Friday 5 October and full details of the ceremony will be available on SUSSED on Monday 8 October.
