3 days to go until the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards 2018

We are mid-way through our countdown to the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards 2018 on Friday 5 October at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.

The Awards cover 12 separate categories, highlighting and celebrating the outstanding achievements of our staff.

Today we look at the award categories: Collegiality, Support and Service to the University and Teaching.

Award category: Collegiality.

An employee or team who embodies our spirit of collegiality: one team working, planning and delivering together, towards our shared vision. This may include volunteering to assist with events, working on special projects, serving on committees, or programs outside of the normal work environment.

Shortlisted nominees:

The Health Sciences Finance Team. (Finance).

Dr Laurie Lau. (Medicine).

Vanessa Cox. (Medicine).

Award category: Support and Service to the University.

An employee or a team who provides support and service to the University and thereby enhances the overall quality of life for all members of our community.

Shortlisted nominees:

The Cancer Immunology Campaign Team. (Medicine, Development and Alumni Relations, Estates and Facilities and Communications and Marketing).

The Exams, Award and Graduation Team. (Student and Academic Administration).

Lee Coombs. (Estates and Facilities).

Award category: Teaching.

An employee or team who demonstrates that ‘teaching’ is helping us to achieve the ambitions set out in our University strategy.

Shortlisted nominees:

Adrian Sewell. (Arts and Humanities).

Dr Deborah Thackray. (Environmental and Life Sciences).

Kathryn Wicks. (Social Sciences).

The winners will be announced live on Twitter from 19:00 on Friday 5 October and full details of the night will be available via SUSSED on Monday 8 October.
