Printing costs reduced due to student feedback

The University is dedicated to continuously improving the student experience, and we do our best to listen to your feedback to make positive changes. We’ve worked with the Students’ Union over the summer and are now able to offer a more cost-effective printing service to our students.

Director of iSolutions, Dr Oz Parchment said:

“We understand that printing costs was a concern for many of our students and we are delighted to be able to reduce the costs. The new printers also provide a more efficient and reliable service for all staff and students.”

The new and reduced charges for students are below:

Single-sided Double-sided
A4 Black and White £0.04 £0.07
A4 Colour £0.18 £0.35
A3 Black and White £0.08 £0.14
A3 Colour £0.35 £0.50

Please note: the money loaders in the library are no longer available for you to add cash to your print account. To add credit to your account, please go to: myprints.soton.ac.uk

Samuel Dedman, VP Education said:

“I am absolutely thrilled to be able to announce the revised cost of printing to students after a year of hard work by our SUSU Academic Representatives and volunteers. We have been firm in our demands for a printing offer, which is high-quality, sustainable and offers improved value-for-money for our student body, and I believe that we have been able to make steps towards those goals.

“This is – by no means – the end of the conversation around the print service at the University of Southampton, but hopefully this change lifts even a small amount of the financial pressure which our students face. If anyone has any feedback or questions about the new printing service, please let me know at: [email protected]!”

New Samsung printers installed across University

The new Samsung machines installed across our University continue to provide:

  • printing from any fixed desktop PC or laptop
  • confidentiality and security by logging in
  • the ability to collect your printing from anywhere at a time that suits you (within 24 hours)
  • colour printing, copying and scanning, available where required
  • ability to print from mobile devices in the future

The print queues for the old Konica Minolta printers will soon be removed automatically. If you use a computer or device that is not managed by iSolutions, you will need to manually delete the old Konica Minolta printer queues and add the new print queues as below:

  • BlackWhite on student.myprint.soton.ac.uk
  • Colour on student.myprint.soton.ac.uk
