The Debate: “Is it wrong not to identify as feminist?”

It’s that time of year where the Southampton Debating Union hold their highly-anticipated Freshers’ debate. With past speakers including Julie Bindel and Peter Hitchens, the event is sure to be filled with diverse range of guest speakers and thought-provoking topics.

The event is free of charge and takes place on Thursday 11 October at 18:30 in 1077, Nuffield Theatre.

This year, we’re looking at feminism and what it really means in this day and age. We’ll be discussing the motion: “Is it wrong not to identify as a feminist?”

Opening the debate we have Emily Zinklin, writer and editor of feminist blog “The F-Word” and Julian Norman, a Human Rights and Immigration barrister.

On the opposition, we have writer and activist Natasha Devon MBE and Zara Faris – a writer and speaker specialising in women in Islam.

These renowned speakers mean that this debate is not going to be one to miss!
