Are you graduating this year? We’ve compiled a list of FAQs to help demystify the process of booking graduation tickets.
With applications closing on Wednesday 24 October, if you have not booked already you need to be quick! If you think you should have been invited but have not received an email invitation, contact the Graduation team at: [email protected] with your name, student ID number and your programme of study.
Q) Should I wait until I know my results to book tickets for Graduation?
A) No! Applications for Graduation tickets close on Wednesday 24 October, and you need to have reserved your place and any guest(s’) tickets by then. Don’t wait to receive your results.
If you try to book after the 24 October application date there may not be space left in your ceremony, and we will have to find you a place in an alternative. After the deadline, guest tickets will also be charged at £10 each, subject to availability.
Q) If I apply for tickets to attend graduation, but do not receive my results by the cut-off date of Monday 19 November, will this stop me from attending a future graduation ceremony?
A) No! Even if you’ve applied for tickets for this year’s Winter Graduation and it turns out you have not received your results in time to attend, you will automatically be invited to take part in the next eligible ceremony.
Q) I do not want to attend this Winter graduation. What should I do?
A) Please log on to the application system. You can choose to either defer (if you would like to attend a future graduation ceremony) or graduate in-absentia (if you do not want to attend graduation ceremony at all). If you do not choose one of these options, it may mean a small delay in receiving your certificate. There’s no pressure – whether you’d like to attend graduation or not, just let us know and we can accommodate to suit your preference!
Q) Can I wear my own gown from somewhere other than Wippell Gown Hire?
A) We advise all graduands hire gowns, hats and hood from Wippell Gown Hire. The University of Southampton has specific styles and colours for your award, and we have worked alongside Wippell to make sure they have gowns to the University’s specification: https://www.wippellgownhire.co.uk/.
Q) Where can I park during graduation?
