Yesterday (Wednesday 7 November) our John Hansard Gallery held a ‘Celebration of Arts and Culture’ event to celebrate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University and Arts Council England.
Louise Coysh, Associate Director, Arts and Culture at the University, said:
“At the heart of this Memorandum of Understanding lies the University’s pledge, working together with Arts Council England, to actively contribute to Southampton’s growing cultural reputation and to increase opportunities for young people and communities to engage with the arts and contribute to shaping the city’s future.”
Guests were welcomed with the sound of violins from SÓN (Turner Sims Orchestra in Association) followed by an introduction from our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Christopher Snowden, and Darren Henley OBE, Chief Executive, Arts Council England.
Photos from the event will be added to this story soon so watch this space!
