Offer of reimbursement for EU colleagues who apply for settled status

The government will shortly be launching a pilot phase of the EU Settlement Scheme, which will be open to staff employed by higher education institutions. The scheme is being put in place ahead of the UK’s departure from the EU, as a result of Brexit.

We anticipate the application portal will be available from 15 November 2018 and will run until 21 December 2018.

The University has committed to supporting staff impacted by Brexit and therefore will be reimbursing the £65 application fee for eligible employees (see the government eligibility criteria here) who make an application under this scheme, either as part of the pilot or the full scheme when it is launched. This provision will be available to all employees who are working for the University on or before 29 March 2019.

Staff are reminded that an EEA staff support network has been set up, supported by Human Resources, to help and support staff affected by Brexit. Further information on the support network can be obtained from the Head of Employee Relations Jeremy Gautrey: [email protected]

If you have any questions about the EU Settlement Scheme please refer to the government’s guidance.

Please see our HR webpages for details of how to apply to the University for reimbursement of application costs.
